Grand Lake Dental Recognized As Family Positive Workplace
One of the most important values for all of us at Grand Lake Dental is family. As a dental practice, we understand how critical it is for every member of the family to take their dental health seriously, and it’s our goal to instill the right habits in all our patients at an early age. At the same time, we strive to ensure that our office is a friendly and comfortable environment for patients of all ages.
So with that being said, we are extremely proud to announce that Grand Lake Dental has been recognized as a family positive workplace by the Potts Family Foundation.
Family Positive Workplace Awards
For three years running, the Potts Family Foundation released a list of Oklahoma Family Positive Workplace award winners. But in 2020, with the challenges posed by Covid-19 and the pressure it is putting on families, maintaining and promoting positive family values is more important than ever. This year, Grand Lake Dental was among 33 businesses and organizations from throughout Oklahoma to be recognized for their commitment to providing a family friendly work environment.
Family Positive Workplace (FPW) is one of Potts Family Foundation’s programs under the OK25by25 Early Childhood Coalition. The goal of the program, which supports the Foundation’s focus on families with children aged pre-birth through five, is to recognize companies that have implemented family positive policies to better support their employee base.
The guidelines for what constitutes A Family Positive Workplace employer starts with making it possible for employees to balance family and work life. According to the foundation, employers benefit in terms of employee recruitment, retention, loyalty, and productivity when they create an atmosphere that’s conducive to family. At the same time, parents that are able to balance work and family obligations enjoy lower stress levels and a better quality of life overall. In fact, all of society benefits when family-positive policies are emphasized, as more stable families lead to better outcomes for children and more positive contributions to the community at large.
Of course, at Grand Lake Dental we make family central to our core values simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Presents Award
In lieu of an in-person ceremony due to COVID-19, the awards, including a plaque and certificate, were distributed individually. We received our certificate from Leslie Osborn, the current Oklahoma Labor Commissioner. Also present was Pat Dobbs of the Dobbs Foundation. Not only is it a tremendous honor for Grand Lake Dental to be recognized for our commitment to family, but doubly so to have the award presented by such important officials and philanthropists.
Paula Koos, Chair of the FPW Advisory Committee and Executive Director of the Oklahoma Child Care Resource and Referral Association, said, “Congratulations to each of the companies being recognized for their family positive policies. Their employees are fortunate to work for a company that recognizes the value to workplace productivity.”
What is the Potts Family Foundation?
The Potts Family Foundation was founded in 2000 with a mission to give support to sustainable early childhood initiatives and nonprofit capacity building. As a family foundation, the PFF looks at the root causes of early childhood neglect, whether emotional, physical, and mental in nature. This mission aligns nicely with the family-oriented nature of Grand Lake Dental, which we consider a family business that is for families.
The Potts Family Foundation has two main areas of focus. First, the foundation aims to boost the efficacy of nonprofits to improve their communities. That’s why the organization is part of The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OCN). Second, it supports increased investment in terms of people and money in the area of early childhood. A major aspect of their work takes place via the OK25by25 statewide initiative, which brings together businesses, nonprofits, state agencies, legislators and foundations to support the health and well being of Oklahoma children.
To accomplish these goals, the Potts Family Foundation works in education, advocacy, collaboration, and grant making.
